Sundial Growers Inc. has received licence amendments from Health Canada for an additional 140,000 sq. ft. of cannabis cultivation via 40 newly licensed modules at its flagship facility in Olds, Alta.

“Each of the 40 newly licensed Solaria Modules have been purpose-built for the cultivation of high-quality, small-batch cannabis using an individual ‘room’ approach,” notes a press release from the privately held, Alberta-based licensed cannabis producer.

Accelerating its construction plan for the Olds site, “the facility targeting full operational capacity by the end of summer 2019,” reports Sundial Growers, which operates two facilities in Alberta, including the purpose-built modular cannabis production facility in Olds and a production facility in Rocky View, and has plans to build a third facility in B.C.

The amended licences and added cultivation space will allow the company to scale up production of its genetics, “contributing to its vision of crafting the highest quality cannabis for both the adult-use and medical markets,” the company statement adds.

“This milestone is evidence that we are scaling operations quickly, which will allow us to not only continue to supply the Alberta market, but to expand into other regions across Canada,” says Sundial CEO, Torsten Kuenzlen.
